ABOUT

Trucker's Deadly Haul

Nothing Good Happens After Midnight

The 105 Truck Stop along the interstate in the town of Oldsmar is a busy hub that attracts plenty of shady characters. But the mood grows darker when the ladies that frequent this rest stop go missing. Then start turning up dead.

Found along highways and near truck stops, these poor women are thrown away like bags of trash. Beaten beyond recognition. Strangled. The crime scenes were horrific. Sadly, many turn a blind eye, even local authorities.

Enter upstart cop Callahan “Cal” Raven who takes the words “Protect and Serve” to heart. As a teen, Cal sees death in all its ugliness, and through this lens he sees these victims as mothers, sisters and daughters. He sees them as human beings. He knows their lives deserve more than a free ride to the morgue, a toe tag and a Jane Doe designation.

As Cal’s career grows, so too does the body count. He digs into these cases against his superiors’ wishes, a decision that jeopardizes his job – and his life. Yet through dogged determination, he discovers a pattern to these murders.

On his quest to find the predator, Cal must contend with cronyism and corruption within the Oldsmar Police Department, media scrutiny, increasing oversight from state police, growing unease in the community and the FBI.

Overcoming his own demons and insecurities, Cal investigates each death, follows the clues and tracks the killer. But time’s running out with each passing mile. Will Cal find the killer before another body turns up? Will he maintain his wits? This riveting true fiction tale will keep you guessing till the final page.

PRAISE FOR

Trucker's Deadly Haul

“A gripping read. Raw, unflinching, and unapologetically real, Trucker’s Deadly Haul pulls back the “blue” curtain on the hidden truths of law enforcement and the forgotten lives that often slip through society’s cracks. We see that Justice has a price, that too few are willing to pay, except for one lone cop, in order to ensure justice for those who’ve fallen silent.”

Dr. Robert W. Clark, Ph.D. (FBI-Ret) and Deputy Mayor of Public Safety, City of Los Angeles

“This is an insightful and powerful work that reveals the expertise in the investigative process and the trauma that affects those whose mission it is to bring justice for the victims. Capturing the essence of the grueling work necessary in homicide investigations with the personal thoughts and feelings that accompany this kind of policing is brought to life by the characters and the plot.”

Randy Sutton, Founder and Chairman of the Board of The Wounded Blue and host of A Cop’s Life Podcast

“This story of the hunt for a serial killer is best-seller material. The narrative of the emotional struggle of the hero investigator Cal Raven is what really touched my soul. I was a social worker for 40 years. I saw what he saw. I connected with Cal. Beautifully done.”

Bob Moro

“Well organized and easy to follow. A real thriller. I definitely would watch this as a series on Netflix!”

Sue Sager

“The colorful characters make you want to read more - and the story keeps you guessing with every page. A great read.”

Rob Farnsworth

“I saw bodies contorted in ways I didn’t think possible. I saw missing heads as well as only heads or missing body parts. I saw people with no faces.”

– Cal Raven
